Meet Camila

 Searching for Camila

When picking the name for our main character, we did tons of research. We had already created an image of what we pictured her to look like, and couldn't get our friend Camila out of our mind. Once we thought of her, we were determined to go with that name as we felt it resembled who we wanted our main character to be. We then though to ourselves, why don't we ask Camila to be the star of it? She was in Aice Media last year and is on the cheer team just like our main character. It was just too ironic and too perfect that we couldn't pass up on the opportunity of asking her. She has darker features like brown hair, brown eyes, and tan skin which aligns perfectly with how we pictured our leading female to look like. We asked our friend and she immediately agreed and said she would love to help us out.

 Creating Camila

After out friend had agreed, we decided it was time to do some deep character analysis. We did research on things like the music we think she would listen to, what her social life would be like, how she dressed, and created a sort of mood board.

Using a technique like this also helps develop my mise-en-scene elements, and helps me have a better understanding of how I can incorporate these things better into my film openings. The Malibu and store (Brandy Melville) represent her aesthetic of how she dresses, how her room may look, things like that. The polaroid of cheerleaders represent her extracurricular (well one of them, hint hint), and her social life. It helps give a visual of how she met some of her bestfriends and that she is on a competition team. The 4 polaroids are Daniel Caesar's album covers. Camila is obsessed with Daniel Caesar and those 4 albums are her favorite and are always on repeat. The flower is a Lily which is her favorite, and exemplifies her as a flower. Finally, the binoculars are the red herring of the mood board. This displays the contrast of the film opening, and gives a hint to her alternative life.
