Transitioning into the Cambridge Portfolio Project

Starting now, my upcoming blog posts will be centered around the creation of my Cambridge Final Exam. My teacher has well educated me on topics similar to what the basis of this final project contains, that will ultimately lead me to being successful and the upmost prepared. She has taught me strategies and techniques to accurately represent what a film opening should contain. To begin this project, me and my partner established a couple of ideas for how we wanted our opening to play out. We have set things like types of conflict and what settings we want to establish.

The approach me and my partner plan on executing is by leaving the end of the opening pretty open ended. We want to make sure that the film opening feels like one rather than a short film or a trailer. The idea we have is to contrast the beginning of the opening to feel very happy, and then for the end to feel more suspenseful and have the viewers not sure of how the rest of the film will unfold. We really want to focus on establishing context for what's going on, we will utilize and focus on props that help give a little bit of context clues for what could play out. Our filming locations will really help initiate the plot because we want to film at an airport/in the middle of no where type of location to really keep the watchers on their toes as to what the two main characters could be doing or plotting.

A technique we will heavily rely on are the purpose and meaning behind certain shots. To really help establish the two main character's relationship, we want to utilize certain framing or focus techniques to help question the audience question their status. Are they friends, lovers, co-workers? That's up for the audience to decide. Also songs will be used (especially fast paced ones) to uphold the amount of stress and panic going on for the lead character. The editing will also be really important to establish that it is a thriller/drama, so it will mostly be dark at the end to again establish the contrast the beginning of the opening. The camera we will be using will be very high quality to make it look super professional, and we will be using stabilizers and tripods to also help with that affect.

Overall, the planning process for this project is coming along very well. Me and my partner can't wait to begin this project, especially to use it as a creative outlet.
