My Project Idea

The idea me and my partner have is to do a thriller/drama with the themes of drug abuse and mystery. The film will open with a cheerleader at cheer practice. She will be very popular, talking to everyone, maybe conversing with a couple basketball players, just overall very light and happy with bright colors. Then one of the basketball players will be shown giving her a look, to which she'll notice and give on back. This specific shot is very important in establishing the relationship between our two main characters by making the audience question what their dynamic could possibly be. It will then show her going to the locker room and rushingly packing up her stuff, to where it will then be a graphic match cut to her also rushingly packing a duffle bag back in her house. It will then be a very chaotic sequence of her packing a bunch of things, the main concern being a bag of drugs. A honk will then be heard outside, so she rushes out of her house and you see her get into a car. It is shown someone is driving, but we can't see who, until we see a reveal that it is the previous basketball player she had exchanged a glance with. They then exchange a couple lines of dialogue as it stops in between a line where they are driving off to a mystery location.

Major Inspiration

One of my biggest inspirations when coming up with this film opening idea, was the film Beautiful Boy. When we mentioned this film, me and my partner immediately knew we wanted to relate it to the theme of drug abuse. We thought that Beautiful Boy does an incredible job at showcasing the hardships of experiencing something like that.
