Blog posting - OWF

Basic summary of directions for the One Word Film Project: We were given a randomized word, which in my case was appreciative, and then we were told to make a brainstorming sheet and a storyboard to carefully plan out our specific shots and editing techniques. then we filmed at least 15 shots to develop a story for our word with no sound to then edit it with specific editing techniques.

Summary of your approach to completing this project:

  • What did you do during brainstorming? We created an outline of how we wanted our shots to look like and what we wanted to do in each shot and how we would film it. For example we would write “Girl looking at keys in a medium shot.”
  • How did your storyboard help you pre-visualize your project? It helped us pre-visualize our project because we got to have a little insight of how we wanted our project to look. We also were able to play around with what we did and didn’t like.
  • What editing resource did you utilize? We used iMovie and many different editing techniques to get used to editing.

Analysis of what was done well and what you would like to improve next time:
Next time I think we can definitely shoot more shots utilizing different techniques and ideas because when we got to the editing stage, we wished we had a few more options to choose from. But something I find we did really well was the fluidity of our shots and how many different angles and shots we contributed to this short story.
