Credit Sequences Analysis

 The three credit sequences I will be analyzing today are: Catch Me If You Can, Enola Holmes, and Divergent.

Catch Me If You Can

This film is about a man with many jobs that he has all before his 18th birthday. He ends up becoming the most successful bank robber in the history of the U.S. at just 17. A specific FBI Agent makes it his goal in life to capture him and bring him to justice, but he is always one step ahead. The opening credits used animation to represent a storyline about detectives, the animation style represents the modern and futuristic vibe the film entails. The movie clearly has a specific color scheme so that when the audience sees those colors together, they automatically think of this film in particular. Same thing with the font, it is used consistently throughout the film. The music used also represents the mission point of the movie, it sounds like a spy and very jazzy which helps develop the purpose.

Enola Holmes

Enola Holmes is about the younger sister of Sherlock Holmes who is constantly being overshadowed by the legacy of her brothers, so she sets herself out to prove herself once her mother disappears. What was very interesting about this credit sequence was that the creators integrated the credits into the storytelling. The film opens with the main character, Enola, explaining a bit of backstory of who she is and who her family is. The introduction uses graphics and drawings that are very antiquated and that fit her aesthetic. It's interested how the credits play a part in explaining the story, and fit in to explain Enola's personality.

Divergent

Divergent is a film about a dystopian society where people are divided into five factions based on their personality traits. The font and effects used to make the fonts more professional looking are very dystopian, modern, and futuristic to set the the tone for the audience for as if they are in the society with the main characters. The main character's actor's names are sporadically incorporated throughout the film with a golden yellow color and a gold shimmer around the rims. This is happening while the city is being shown so the audiences can become familiar with it.
